The gathering of forms from Frontera Natural to restore natural areas will begin next week

Natural Border will recover natural areas of the territory of the Duero-Douro EGTC

The Frontera Natural project aims to restore, conserve and preserve the natural heritage of the territory. Thanks to him, the Duero-Douro EGTC will promote and fund environmental projects on a one hundred villages.

All member entities of the Duero-Douro EGTC have already received a form, in which they must state precisely what action their village needs and in which area they want to act.

Next week, experts from the Grouping start to visit the headquarters of all member entities to collect these forms and making a photographic inventory of wasteland or poor conservation status that each location proposed for recovery.



Fountains, gardens, riverbanks and trails will regain its original splendor

The Frontera Natural’s aim is to create a joint management tool for environmental conservation and that maintenance of natural heritage becomes a priority of both local governments and inhabitants of the territory of the EGTC Duero-Douro, involving population and enterprises of each zone in the recovery of natural spaces.

Also, thanks to this project will be possible to ensure that these recovery efforts are carried out consistently and continuously over time, benefiting not only the environment but also the society as a whole.

Frontera Natural will be developed in one hundred villages of the Duero-Douro EGTC until the end of 2011.

Environmental volunteering and corporate social responsibility

Frontera Natural intends to imply directly and actively the population and business community in the work of preserving their natural heritage.

For this reason, the Duero-Douro EGTC will make a database containing the existing companies in the territory with the aim of raising awareness about the benefits of a commitment to environmental stewardship through their corporate social responsibility programs.

Natural Frontier will call on the voluntary participation of the residents of each municipality to cooperate actively in their village through voluntary environmental actions.

Since early August, the technical team of Self Prevention is conducting a tour around the territory of the Duero-Douro EGTC to clarify the inhabitants and local authorities any hint of questions they have about the project of reintroduction of goats as a method for fire prevention.

After the good response these initial meetings, the Duero-Douro EGTC has decided to extend these explanatory meetings in municipalities that have requested it to demand of information from its inhabitants. The next meetings will be held in Mieza the 27th of August, and Bodón and El Payo on the 30th of this month.
