Young people from the border present in Norway the proposals and needs of youth

From 22 to 25 January, a delegation of the Duero-Douro EGTC composed of eight young studens and two political representatives attended the International Youth Conference in Hell, in Norway.

In coexistence with other young people from Poland, Hungary, Finland, Norway and Sweden, the delegation of the Duero-Douro EGTC had the opportunity to present the everyday lives of the young people in the border.

They were also able to speak publicly to the political representatives of Europe to make suggestions and share future expectations on youth.

The aim of this international conference is to share the opinion that young Europeans have of their current life, and collect their contribution to the improvement in order to achieve a more participatory in the decision-making process.

Beside them, each participating country was attended by political representatives, who collaborated with most points of view on the low participation of youth in public issues.

The mayor of Miranda, Artur Nunes, and the mayor of Salce, Sonia Moraleja, gave their views on this issue.

Universal claims for the future

From Mogadouro, Puebla de Sanabria, Muga de Sayago and Vitigudino young people of the Duero-Douro EGTC expressed some of the most frequent claims of the youth.

Their expectations of a future focus on petitions to local authorities so that their needs are taken into account, so that institutions strive to organize activities and workshops for children and young people in rural areas of the border, so improve lines of communication between politicians and youth and that together they can plan their future in the territory, without having to migrate to the cities.


Meeting with Secretary of State for Forestry and Rural Development in seeking support for the Self Prevention project

The meeting was held on 25 January in the Secretary of State for Forestry and Rural Development of Portugal.

The secretary, Daniel Campelo, received a delegation of the Duero-Douro EGTC, who traveled to Lisbon to present the project to reintroduce goats at the border, Self Prevention.

The meeting took place with many points of agreement about the need to strengthen forest production and livestock development in Portugal. The EGTC Duero-Douro reiterated its desire that the Portuguese government to collaborate with the project.
